Information: The Chaucer Review publishes studies of language, sources, social and political contexts, aesthetics, and associated meanings of Chaucer’s poetry, as well as articles on medieval literature, philosophy, theology, and mythography relevant to study of the poet and his contemporaries, predecessors, and audiences.
Manuscripts (three copies) should be double-spaced, with endnotes following the text. Documentation should follow the styling for endnotes in The
Chicago Manual of Style. Quotations from Chaucer should reference The
Riverside Chaucer, 3rd ed. (unless the edition is at issue in the essay); it is advisable to consult a recent issue for form. Foreign-language quotations should be accompanied by translations. English translations of the Vulgate should be from the Douai-Rheims version. Charts and illustrations should be submitted in digital form whenever possible, and authors are responsible for obtaining any permissions. Upon acceptance, a copy of the manuscript must be submitted on disk, in Microsoft Word format.
Because manuscripts submitted for publication undergo a blind review process,
the author’s name should appear only on the cover page of the manuscript. The
editors, with advice from the editorial board and other specialist reviewers,
will make final decisions in a timely manner, typically within four months of
receipt.
POLICY ON POSTING ARTICLES ON PERSONAL/INSTITUTIONAL WEB SITES:
You may post the pre-copyedited version (preprint) on your personal and institutional
Web site, so long as it is accompanied by a link giving the URL for the final
version at Project Muse's Web site and a copyright notice as it appears in the
journal.
